Starting couples photos

Adjustment:
Adjusting from fashion to couple photos is something I'm still struggling with. The main differences are that there are two people when I normally shoot one and that instead of my vision, I need to work with the client's vision. Eventually, clients will choose to hire you based on your style, so it may not be something you need to worry about in the future.
The biggest struggle for me is figuring out how to implement my style into my couple photos but also appeal to a wider audience to gain more clientele. The best way to find that out is to practice and if you have friends, you can ask them to be your guinea pigs. The photoshoot examples I used in this blog was a photoshoot with my best friend and her partner. I was lucky that despite not shooting couple photos often, they were willing to pay me regardless.
Taking Inspiration:
Because I lacked the experience, I used Pinterest and other photographers as inspiration. For this specific shoot, I created mood boards with example photos and discussed with the couple what photos they would like to recreate, what angles they preferred, what colors they liked, etc. It's crucial to get as much info as possible whether you're a beginner or not. In my case, I felt that the more I got an idea of what they wanted, the easier it was to meet their expectations.
Once you gain a large enough portfolio of couple of photos, you can begin to take inspiration from your own photos and develop a style. Currently, the style I want to develop is a cinematic one. This style carries over to all of my photos, but I want to implement it differently for each genre.
Editing:
One of the biggest factors in creating a style is editing. The average couple wants bright, clear and cute images which contrast with my usual moody, contrasty, and dramatic edits. It's a balance between what the clients want and your style. Sometimes you might have to change up your edits in a way that still fits with your other photos but also appeals to the client. Something I struggled with specifically with the image below was with skin pigmentation. There was a discoloration on the hand, and I couldn't get to match up perfectly especially because of my colorblindness.
