Tip 1:
I watched a youtube video that talked about how as a photographer, he felt he explored his hometown as much as he possibly could and that it began to get boring. However, after traveling outside the city for a year, he learned that it wasn't boring but that it was just more challenging. I mention this story because I believe I feel the same about Sacramento. Although, if I'm being honest, I have yet to explore all of Sacramento.
That brings me to my first tip: Explore Sacramento. Try different perspectives, go to places you haven't gone, sit down and take in the sights, do what you can to find nice locations. Sacramento is a big place and will always have something new. You just have to challenge yourself to find it.

Tip 2:
One thing I never noticed when I was younger was the amount of art all over Sacramento. Sacramento is full of creatives. There are so many amazing murals hidden in alleyways you might never visit or on buildings, you've never seen before. The largest murals that most people already know about or have seen are on J Street near the Golden One center but there are smaller ones scattered all throughout the city.
My second tip, in combination with the first tip, is to utilize the art around the city. Many of these murals have things you can use to create leading lines, frame within frames, and many other ways to add to your composition. Plus it's nice to showcase how cool Sacramento streets can be. If you can, figure out who created the mural and
Tip 3:
You might fall into the trap I did and start to believe that the buildings in Sacramento are beginning to get boring and that it's getting hard to take unique photos. I advise utilizing different parts of the building even if you don't think it'll work out. You may be surprised how a window or its reflection could completely change your composition. Or how an archway or door frame can create a more interesting image. Especially with the new buildings being built, there will always be an opportunity to create something new.
